Hosting Firewall Instability - Fri 9th July 12:10

Our hosting firewall became unstable at around 12:10 due to a DOS attack targeting one of our hosted servers, causing all servers on the 217.196.1.128/26 IP range to become unavailable for this short time.

The service was unstable for approximately 20 minutes while the source of the attack was found and blocked.

Core Server Upgrades - 10/11/2009

We will be upgrading our core shared hosting system at 20:00 on Tue, Nov 10.
The upgrade will be take approximately 1 hour, although services will begin to come back online after 20 minutes. During this time customers will be unable to send/recieve email or access websites on shared hosting.

We will also be replacing the core hosting switch at around 22:00. This will affect most customers other than those with dedicated network feeds. Please contact support@userve.net to find out if this will affect your service. Downtime for this stage of the upgrade should be less than 5 minutes.

Datacentre Router Upgrade

We will be performing an upgrade to our core routers on 26/10/2009 at 23:00.

There will be a short interruption to service while networks are moved from the existing hardware to the new routers.

Data Centre Router Upgrade

There will be a small outage tonight (13/03/09) at 23:00 lasting for approximately 5 minutes.

This is to allow one of the Core network routers to be replaced.
Hosting customers may notice downtime on their services while this is in progress.

Internet Link Stability

We have had stability problems with one of the main internet feeds to our Data Centre this morning.
The affected link has now been temporarily disabled while the problem is resolved, so all services should return to normal.

An update will be posted when the problem has been fixed and the link re-enabled.

Email Filtering Service Outage

We are currently experiencing problems with our primary email filtering server which is causing email to be delayed for customers with antivirus/antispam protection.

Engineers are currently replacing the hardware so service should be restored shortly.

Service Disruption

Their was a brief disruption in service at 8:45am this morning which may have caused a slow response to our services. It was found a customer’s server had a script compromised leading to a dos attack. The server was taken offline and service was resumed within a few minutes. We have resolved the problem now and have taken measures to prevent this from happening again.

Hosting network 1 will be down during the window specified above to replace a faulty supervisor engine in one of our switches. Services will be affected for a maximum of 10 minutes, but 5 minutes or less is expected.

This applies to customers with servers whose IP addresses start with 217.196.1.

Customer Portal Upgrades

Over the past year we have been working hard on our customer portal giving customers the ability to manage many aspects of their account. Below are just some of the features available (recent additions in bold).

View upcoming domain renewals
Manage email addresses and groups
Ability to manage email accounts (mailboxes)
Ability to setup out-of-office messages with automated start/end dates
Full control of DNS records on your domains
Payment history (if your account is direct debit enabled)
View antivirus statistics for your domains.
Create and view support tickets
and much more…

It is now also possible for users with email accounts to log into the portal using their normal username and password (the same details you would use in Outlook or our webmail). This gives you the following abilities.

View mailbox details and disk usage
One-click access to webmail
The ability to change your own password
Manage out-of-office messages including automated start/end dates
Ability to see all email addresses you recieve mail for, as well as the ability to view antivirus reports for these addresses (where available)

Distribution Switch Crash

We had a network distribution switch crash this afternoon at around 13:20 that will have affected a number of server hosting customers. The fault was fixed within 10 minutes and service has returned to normal.

No website or email hosting customers will have been affected by this.
